Once upon a time in the late 1980’s, i saddled a Fuji touring bicycle and rode from my historic hometown of Lexington, Massachusetts to San Francisco. Consequently, i’ve spent most of my adult life on the west coast of the United States. Building on a background in Ceramics, i delve into new and unfamiliar materials and methods with a spirit of invention. Recent works range from multi-channel video installation, to slip-cast porcelain multiples, to interactive public projects. The common ground between these ventures is exploration of the rich territory found at the intersection of the Individual and the Collective.
lifted by the pandemic-era wave – dubbed the Great Resignation – i am newly retired from my 10-year career as full-time faculty in the Visual Art Program at Central Oregon Community College. i now devote my “…one wild and precious life” – in the words of poet Mary Oliver – to my art practice.
